iPhone Apps That Help You Save Money

Grocery IQ

Save time and money with this useful grocery-list app.  GroceryIQ offers a predictive-entry system that includes a bunch of supermarket items.

CardStar

A free app that connects loyalty cards, merchants and coupons via mobile devices.  It displays your supermarket or drugstore club card, and then allows you to scan the iPhone’s screen at checkout.

CompareMe Compare and Convert app

When shopping, CompareMe from Solsie will tell you whether it’s a better deal to buy the twelve pack of soda or the two-liter bottle.  You can use it to calculate whether the three-pound bag of apples is a better bargain than just buying them individually. Quickly compare items by weight, volume or surface area.

CouponSherpa

There are two types of Coupons on Coupon Sherpa.

1. Mobile Coupons - This application features coupons from many retailers that are exclusive to Coupon Sherpa users. Show these coupons to at checkout to receive the discount.

2. Internet Coupons - The Coupon Sherpa staff scours the internet daily to conveniently bring you the best in-store coupons. Find a coupon you would like to use by searching for the store name or category, then show it on your iPhone at check out, or email it to yourself to print out later.

Save Benji’s

Be a comparison shopper wherever you go. With Save Benji’s you’ll know if another store sells a product for less. Just search by product name, number, bar code, manufacturer, author, actor, publisher and more. If you do find it cheaper somewhere else, you can buy it right through Save Benji’s. This app is a work in progress, but the concept is great.  Look up a product by it’s name, category, bar code, etc., and it compare also prices on the internet to ensure you’re getting the best deal.

Shopping List

Keep track of your shopping list on your iPhone. Never leave the shopping list at home! I am a big believer of having a shopping list when you go to the grocery store or a store like Target and/or Wal-Mart. It’s so easy to make impulse buys at the grocery store or Target, and they can bust your budget like no other. This app helps you never leave your list at home, and you can keep a running list by adding an item every time it comes to mind.

Yowza!!

Launch Yowza!! on your iPhone or iPod Touch and it automatically finds deals and coupons for store right in your area!

Find the cheapest gas with this app that tells you the cost per gallon at stations wherever you go.

Gas Cubby

Tracks gas mileage and vehicle maintenance

Trip Cubby

Tracks mileage for tax deduction or reimbursement.

Auto Loan/Lease Calculator

Helps you figure out what a loan or lease will really cost if you are shopping for a new or used car.

Auto Fuel Economics

Calculates the projected cost of gas.  Compares buying price and gas milage between two different cars to help with your car purchase decision.

Save money and keep track of your spending with Pennies. In just two taps, you can enter your your monthly budget and begin tracking your expenses. Pennies features a simple interface that lets you record purchases in seconds. You can then view your daily receipts or tap Overview to find out how well you’re sticking to your monthly budget.

Mint

Mint is a great free option to track and manage your finances. It connects with your bank accounts and credit cards, and pulls this data together into a collection of smart, colorful charts and graphs that show you where your money is going. Manage budgets, track transactions, and analyze spending habits – on the go.  Mint will even alert you that your credit card balances are low.

XpenseTracker

With XpenseTracker installed on iPhone, you can record all the expenses when traveling on business for which you can be reimbursed, as you incur them.  XpenseTracker provides flexible customization, reporting, and exporting options.  It lets you track mileage, set your currency, and use iPhone’s camera to record receipts.

Cost: $4.99 but there’s a free lite version available.
